This news is a hole-in-one for doughnut lovers.

Colorado will be welcoming another doughnut joint to its burgeoning pastry scene as Houston-based Shipley Do-Nuts expands to the Centennial State, according to a news release on the company’s website.

It may seem like small potatoes to welcome a Texas chain to Colorado considering the wealth of options already available to sweets-lovers. Between small mountain town bakeries, eclectic eats from around the globe and other top notch doughnut places like Habit Doughnut Dispensary and Fractured Prune, some Coloradans are probably asking if there’s room for another dessert spot.

The answer is yes, duh.

Shipley’s has been in the doughnut business since 1936 and it shows. The mouthwatering treats are made right in front of you, providing a little show to go with that jelly-filled masterpiece. And the freshness is definitely evident in the taste.

But there’s more: the real star of Shipley’s is their kolaches. They are delicious savory pastries filled with cheese, sausage, jalapeño and other things that will leave you asking “McMuffin who?”

Don’t believe this Texas transplant? You can try the doughnuts for yourselves when the store opens at 5400 Parker Road in Aurora in June. According to the company’s Facebook post, the soft opening will be June 1 and the grand opening is June 8.

Get in line, doughnut lovers.
